Seven Devils Mountain Range

The Seven Devils make up the Idaho rim of Hells Canyon, and they are one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the West. The sculptured peaks are graced with perennial snowfields. The peaks soar above tree line, and are surrounded with lush alpine vegetation and sparkling mountain lakes.

The Seven Devils Range has more than seven peaks. The names He Devil and She Devil were established long ago. The remaining peaks were named at later times. The elevation drop from He Devil to the Snake River is a breathtaking 8043 feet.

The Seven Devils stand high on a 3 mile wide bench between the Snake and Salmon rivers. The mountain range covers 40 miles between Council and White Bird, Idaho. The Seven Devils comprise the Idaho portion of the Hells Canyon Wilderness (76,721 acres).

10. Casey Mtn. 8800+ ft.
11. Jackley Mtn. 8800+ ft.
12. Pyramid Mtn. 8700+ ft.
13. White Mtn. 8500+ ft.
14. Black Imp 8400+ ft.
15. Emmett Mtn. 8400+ ft.
16. Carbonate Hill 8100+ ft.
17. Potato Hill 8100+ ft.
18. Granite Mtn. 8000+ ft.
19. Devils Tooth 7760 ft.
20. Dry Diggins Lookout 7828 ft. The highest point on the Idaho rim visible from Snake River.

* Articles state that US Geological Survey has recognized that the stated elevations for He Devil and She Devil on many maps are likely inaccurate. These articles claim that both He Devil and She Devil are about 9400 ft. and that He Devil appears to be a few inches taller than She Devil.
